The goal of a universal receiver is to provide nearly optimal performance regardless of the channel characteristics that may be in effect at a given time. In this thesis, we consider a robust receiver for a unknown Rayleigh fading and partial band jamming channel. We assume that BFSK modulation and binary BCH code are used, and the receiver does not know the channel SNR and existence of jamming. A parallel combination of hard and soft decision demodulator, followed by error and/or erasure correcting decoders and a novel selection scheme is proposed and its performance is analyzed.
