As an alternative of conventional fixed or non-mobile networks accommodating various kinds of services, PCN(Personal Communication Networks) will be introduced in the near future for wherever, whenever, whoever, and whatever available communication services.
In order to realize the Personal Communication Networks, we should overcome many problems, including pico and micro cell planning, radio propagation, mobility, signaling and intelligent network, etc.
In this study, we focus on the traffic behaviors in multi-story business buildings as a typical PCN environment. We model the 3-dimensional indoor pico cell structure and analyze the grade of services, such as blocking probabilities and dropping probabilities, as well as the system capacity by considering its cochannel reuse distance, penetration loss, and carrier-to-interference level in case of terminal mobility. The results of this study can be utilized in the cell planning of indoor environments.
