1-Cyclopentadienyl-2-fluorenyl ethane ligand 1 has been prepared from the reaction of a spiro fluorene compound and a Cp anion. Compound 1 reacts with n-BuLi to produce a dilithiated compound, which is expected to react with $ZrCl_4$ to yield ethylene (1-$η^5$-cyclopentadienyl-2-$η^5$-fluorenyl) dichloro zirconium but to yield only the Cp coordinated Zr complex. 1-Fluorenyl-2-propanol ligand 2 has been prepared from the reaction of fluorene anion and propylene oxide at -78℃. Reaction of a dianion of 2 with $ZrCl_4$ results in polymerization of the ligand by $ZrCl_4$. (Exo-$η^5$-cyclopentadienyl-$η^5$-cyclohexadienyl) $Mn(CO)_3$ ligand 3 reacts with n-BuLi to produce a lithiated compound, which reacts with $TiCl_4(thf)_2$ in diethyl ether at room temperature. $^1H$ - NMR of the product shows characteristic peaks of Cp which is coordinated to a Ti metal center.
