Due to the rapid growth of demand on information communication and the advancement of the computer network technologies, the development of heterogeneous distributed database management systems (HDDBMSs) is necessary to manage the cooperative processing among the database systems geographically distributed. In particular, the management of catalog, which facilitates the accesses to distributed data, is one of crucial functions of distributed database management systems (DDBMSs).
In order to maintain the superb performance of DDBMS, we propose the regionalized-catalog distribution (RCD) strategy for the architecture of distributing global catalogs. In addition to this, the concurrency control and recovery (CCR) mechanism of catalog objects is proposed on the basis of RCD. Finally, we design and implement the global catalog manager (GCM) on the basis of RCD and the CCR mechanism.
정보 수요의 급증과 통신망 기술의 발달로, 지역적으로 분산된 데이타베이스 시스템들의 상호 협동적인 처리를 관리하는 분산 데이타베이스 관리 시스템(DDBMS)의 개발이 요구되고 있다. 특히, 분산된 자료들에 대한 접근을 가능하게 하는 전역 카탈로그의 관리는 분산 DBMS의 핵심적 기능 중의 하나이다.
본 논문에서는 분산 DBMS의 최적의 성능 유지를 위하여 전역 카탈로그를 효율적으로 배치하는 전략인 지역화된 카탈로그 배치(Regionalized-Catalog Distribution: RCD) 정책을 제안한다. 또한 RCD 정책을 기본으로 전역 카탈로그에 대한 동시성 제어 및 회복 (Concurrency Control and Recovery: CCR) 기법을 제안한다.
