In recent years, interest in the new application area of multimedia computing has been arizing. Many communication-oriented multimedia applications such as cooperative works and telematic service systems emphasize the importance of standardization of multimedia information interchange. Multimedia and Hypermedia information coding Expert Group(MHEG) is an international standardization group whose objective is to standardize multimedia objects that contain synchronization and composition information of multimedia objects such as text, still pictures, audio, and video.
In this thesis, we implement an MHEG object communication system that handles MHEG multimedia objects. The system can be embedded as a subsystems in any multimedia applications, and encodes, decodes and transfers text, still picture, audio, and composite objects for information interchange among a variety of applications.
