In this paper, we introduce a DPCM system showing good performance for image signal. This system employs a linear combination of median operators-predictor, called Linear Combination of Median Operators-DPCM(LCM-DPCM). We design a optimal quantizer for LCM predictor using Lloyd-Max algorithm. In order to examine the performance characteristics of the LCM-DPCM, it is applied to real image signals. The experimental results indicate that the transmission noise if often isolated and not propagated over the reconstructed signals through LCM-DPCM. They also show that the LCM-DPCM system preserves edge well.
