In this thesis, the effect of the traffic density distributions to the performance of channel assignment strategies is studied through computer simulations. Three channel assignment strategies, fixed channel assignment(FCA), dynamic channel assignment(DCA), and hybrid channel assignment(HCA), are used in the simulations. It is found that the performance of three channel assignment strategies varies with the traffic distributions from the result of simulations. The performance of hybrid channel assignment strategy depends on the channel ratio in the given traffic distribution, where the channel ratio is the number of nominal channels vs. the number of dynamic channels.
