The desirable performance of an exciter such as the magnitude and frequency characteristics of the excitation force can be obtained through sufficient theoretical analyses of the parts with which the exciter is construsted.
Major parts of an electrodynamic exciter are mechanical structure, magnetic field and electric circuit. By modeling each of these and conbining the dynamic properties subsequently, the performance of the exciter can be predicted. Based on the simulation studies, a design specification is decided and one exciter is manufactured following the specification. The performance of the manufactured exciter is compared with the one by simulations.
