In this work, noise generation mechanism of a washing machine is experimentally analyzed. First the noise level was measured as isolating all the main parts one by one in order to rank the parts which generate the noise. Accordingly, it has been found that the structure-borne noise due to the driving motor, and which is confirmed by using Multiple Input/Single Output model that is most severe noise source. To reduce the transmitted motor vibration and noise, motor mounts are tried to redesign. Depending on engineering sence, not rely on analytical method, motor mounts are redesigned tested.
The results show that the newly designed mount can reduce the noise level about 3 dB. Most of the work of this study are performed by experimentally but it is expected that some analytical approach is following.
