The purpose of this study is to develop a software which can analysc the kinematic motion of a complicate plane deck mechanism. To do this, it is essential to represent the mechanism with computer.
The program is constituted with analysis module and graphic represention module. In analysis module, five basic planar higher pairs and four basic planar lower pairs can be kinematically analysed. An on-off type joint, which links a body to a part and next instant, disconnects with the part and contacts with another part, is specified. An algorithm is developed to represent on-off type joint within the planar deck mechanism. Graphic represention module can display and animate motion of deck mechanism and it has capability of graphic output.
Future expansion of this software into audio deck, video cassette recorder deck mechanism and various deck mechanism has been considered. This software will be useful not only to examine the function and fitness of the exsiting mechanisms but also to design and modify for new mechanism.
