The main objectives of this thesis are as follows:
ⅰ) Define software business and classify its technical manpower and ⅱ) Find the current state of its technical manpower and utilizing the data to plan pertinent supply of its technical manpower for software development industry.
For the analysis regarding software technical manpower, this study deals with two fields. One is the study on the current condition and the trend of software technical manpower. The other is on securing of the software technical manpower.
The major findings of this study are as follows:
ⅰ) In the case of managerial technical manpower-system consultant, system analyst, system engineer -, the increase rate of small and medium-scale companies are larger than that of large-scale companies. Most of software development companies are in dire need of managerial technical manpower and executive technical manpower-programmer, operater -.
ⅱ) In terms of securing software technical manpower, there is no difference between small-scale companies and large-scale companies. And in the case of managerial technical manpower and the specialized expert, most of software development companies almost depend on both formal and informal recruit of the manpower. But in the future, they hope to uitilize more of re-education program trainees and professional institute graduates in computer software.
ⅲ) In most of software development companies, the re-education for managerial and specialized technical personnel does not bring satisfactory results. So they strongly want special education facilities for software development and training to solve employee re-education problem.
Further research with larger sample size and more elaborated research methodology is needed to validate the results of this study more effectively.
