For a spot-welding line of a car-body, it may be possible to make the line an efficient one if we are able to select a "best" robot for carrying out a given set of spot-welding operations.
In this paper, first we search the issues of robot-selection in accordance with robotizing a spot-welding line of a car-body and later we propose a scheme for the robot-selection considering the problems.
This paper consists of three phases as fellowing: (1) a search on characteristics of robotization in car-body, (2) a scheme for the robot-selection, and (3) issues of computization for the scheme.
In the first phases, we describe issues on robotization and necessary components of the line.
We propose a scheme for the robot-selection considering the work-envelope of an alternative robot in the second phase.
We present a flow for computizing the scheme in the third phase.
We include a method for selecting a welding-gun, a database-design for handling the characteristics of robots, and an example for illustration in Appendices.
