A hybrid low-noise wide-band amplifier having bandwidth from 10MHz to 2000MHz with a gain of 20dB±0.8dB and a noise figure below 5dB is designed and implimented by using negative feedback and impedence mismatching. A first feedback stage is designed to have a gain decreasing as frequency increases and the second feedback stage to have a gain of a resonance peaking at higher frequency. These two stage are combined to be operated from 10MHz to 2000MHz with a impedence mismatching. The noise figure of the amplifier may be improved by using a large feedback resistor in the first stage. A self bias circuit is used. This desin is implemented as a two stage Si BJT amplifier and its performance is measured to have a 20 dB gain ± 0.8 dB fluctuation over the frequency band from 10MHz to 2000MHz and its noise figure 2.7dB at 50MHz which gradually increases to have 4.3dB at 1800GHz as frequency increases.
