For TV reception, the received signal is distorted by multi-path and noisy channel. For equalizing this distorted signal, it is needed to channel equalizer.
Early studies for equalization of TV signal is focus on the multi-path channel because the ghost is one of the most serious problem in TV reception. So those have many problems in the noisy condition.
In this thesis, a TSGC(Two-Step Ghost Cancellation) algorithm for equalizing the TV signals under multi-path and noisy channel is proposed. The first step is the initialization of the tap coefficients of the transversal filter using appropriate channel estimation and LMS algorithm. And the second step is the adjustments the tap coefficients using the gradients of the error signals. The proposed algorithm has the equivalent performance compared with the existing methods for the no noisy condition, and is stable for the noisy condition. Also it has the fast convergence time because the initialization of the tap coefficients.
