This thesis describes the design and implementation of a Korean genarator for English to Korean machine translation system using transfer method. The Korean dependency structure, which is the result of the English-Korean transfer system, is defined in this thesis.
The Korean dependency structure is a annotated tree and each node, consisting of a set of feature-value pairs, has various semantic, syntactic and morphological informations.
The generator is composed of two phases. The first phase is a syntactic generation phase that constructs the word-information-list by traversing and ordering the Korean dependency structure. The word-information-list contains informations for morphological generation and is a linear structure. The second phase is a morphological generation phase which processes conjugation and selects the proper postpositons.
The generator is able to generate various types of sentences which include simple, embedded, conjunctive, passive and negative sentences. And several morphological phenomena such as conjugation, vowel harmony, modal and post-ending are reflected.
