The purpose of this thesis is to develop Computer-Aide Manufacturing system for free-form surface using a stereo vision.
For modelling the free-form surface, following three procedures are necessary : Camera calibration, Range data calculation using stereo algorithm and surface modelling. First, in camera calibration stage, parallel camera system and camera model matrix are obtained. Second, in range data calculating stage, we used stereo vision technique. The concept of the subpixel registration algorithm is used. The artificial edge is used in feature extr-action. Third, in surface modelling stage, ferguson surface model is used for the rep resentation the object.
For machining the free-form surface, the procedure consists of three parts : Input data transformation, surface interpolation and cutter paths generation.
The experiments are perpormed in a laboratory and the results for range data and machining the workpiece are obtained satisfactorily.
The analysis of the results let us know that stereo ragistration is important error source.
