The purpose of this paper is to furnish guidelines for designing and fabricating an electrodynamic exciter, which is composed of permanent magnet, coiled moving table and table suporting parts. Dynamic model of the system was derived analytically and used as guidelines for design.
On the basis of theoretical and practical considerations an electrodynamic exciter was fabricated. Its dynamic behavior was simulated. The results of the simulation were compared with those abtained from actual operations.
Finally, problems in current design and directions forfurther improvements are presented.
