The object of this study is proposing and improving autonomous drone delivery in urban area by vision-based system. Although drone delivery is promising for its commercial viability, use of drone delivery has been limited only in rural area because of amplified GPS error beside buildings and high risk of collision in urban area. The motivation behind this work is to implement low-cost system to enable autonomous flight that can be easily customized and extended with additional sensors or a more powerful microcontrollers. We proposed the destination detection process that detects and identifies heavily concentrated destination candidates in urban area, using image-processed and inertial data with minimal hardware and software. The system performs target detection, and carry out image-based navigation and control tasks. We experimentally demonstrate the properties and capabilities of system detecting and identifying destinations and evaluate feasibility of drone delivery in urban area by performing indoor and outdoor flight test.
본 연구의 목적은 도심에서의 드론 배송을 위한 영상 기반 시스템을 설계하고 구현하는 것이다. 드론 배송은 상업적 활용성으로 큰 관심을 받고 있지만 GPS정보의 사용이 제한적이고 충돌 위험이 많은 도심에서는 활용되지 못하고 있다. 향후에 활용될 수 있는 해결책을 제시함으로써 도심 드론 배송의 상업적 활용을 앞당기기 위해, 최소한의 하드웨어, 소프트웨어만을 사용해 저가 시스템을 구성하였다. 그리고 영상 처리 정보와 내장 센서의 정보만을 이용해 밀집해있는 도심의 배송후보지들을 인식하고 구분하는 배송지 인식 과정을 제안하고, 영상 표적 인식과 이를 이용한 이미지 기반 항법 시스템을 구성하였다. 구성된 시스템을 통해 실내의 좁은 지역에서 배송지 인식 과정을 수행하여 그 기능을 확인하였고, 실외 비행 실험을 통해 도심 드론 배송의 실현가능성을 확인하였다.
