In this paper, Mixed convection in a refrigerator is numerically investigated using Finite Element Method. Penalty function method is adopted for three dimensional extensin among various methods. The final goal is in determining flow variable extrimizing the efficiency of refrigerator. First, the case of Natural Convection in a square is studied as test calculation. Next, we treated the Mixed convection in a Refrigerator with emphasizing the numerical schreme used in this paper.
Three cases of flow ratio between two inlets a and b (2:2,3:1,1:3) are investigated in this paper. The results based on the structure of flow field and temperature field indicates that the third case has the better efficiency than the other cases. The reason is explained as such; The more part of flow rate flows through the inlet contacting the wall existing heat transfer in low flow rate region.
