Direct boundary element method is employed to obtain a general formulation of Kichhoff-type plate bending problems.
In this thesis, using discontinuous elements other than double nodes, it has been possible to simply consider complex boundary conditions at corners. Thus only a prescribed boundary condition and only a formulation have been needed, while five prescribed boundary conditions and three independent formulations were needed in the previous studies. According to the location of each elements, four different shape functions are used.
The efficiency of discontinuous elements is confirmed by testing three model problems with different boundary conditions.
