The objective of this thesis is to construct integrated system for design and analysis of a planar four-bar linkage.
The developed system consists of three modules : prototype design detail design and analysis. The prototype design module is developed using knowledge-based system based on production system. To build the knowledge-based system, two discretization procedure are employed. One is link specification procedure in which twenty four four-bar linkages are classified according to the oscilating and transmission angles. The other is path type procedure in which about three hundred of planar four - bar coupler paths are considered and classified into representative seven path types. In this module, user can obtain a desired four-bar linkage using qualitative data. To make the system easy to handle, an interactive computer graphics is employed.
Two examples using this integrated system gave good results.
