Three-dimensional information(range or depth) is acquired fast and accuratly by active ranging techniques, so called light striping method. However, direct interpretation of these large amounts of raw data is difficult. Therefore it is convenient to partition (segment) these data points into low level entities which have groups of pixels with similar properties. This thesis deals with following two items. First, we implement a system which can acquire one view range data for rigid objects. Second, segmentation is performed for stripe type range data obtained by implemented system. The segmentation is accomplished by three stages. At first, edges of range data are detected exceedingly by low threshold level. Then these edges are linked, resulting over segmentation. Lastly, the segmentation is completed by removing false bordering edges via surface fitting method.
