The vibration modes of rotating disks are divided into the forward and backward travelling waves and the backward travelling waves are known to be dominant in the vibration. To reduce the vibration effectively, the controller should put more control efforts on reducing the backward travelling waves.
In this study, a new method is developed to obtain the optimal controller by employing wave states in performance index, resulting in different weights on each travelling waves. Simulation results show that the designed optimal controller is highly energy efficient for the reduced order model of rotating disk system considering the control gains and the sensor/actuator locations as the variables.
