An experimental study on the flow interaction of multiple liquid(water) sprays was carried out. Experiments were performed by collecting droplets for three cases of nozzle arrangements-- two nozzles and three nozzles in in-line arrangements and four nozzles at the corners of square arrangement-- in air and steam environment respectively. Droplets of each single sprays were also collected. To find out the effect of spray interaction, comparisons were made between equi-flow rate lines of multiple sprays and the superficial equi-flow rate lines drawn by adding the flow rates of each single sprays assuming equivalent nozzle arrangements. From the above experiments, it can be concluded that the entrainment of ambient gas increases as number of sprays increases. As a result, especially for the case of steam condensation on the subcooled water spray, the spatial distribution of droplets becomes more uniform than the case of simple addition of droplet distributions by each single sprays. It offers a basis for analytical prediction of spray interaction and entrainment effect of ambient gas.
