In this study a photo sensor system was made and installed on engine which enables minimizing the error in the crank angle measurement. A few methods was utilized to measure statically the crank angle and these data were compared with those obtained from engine motoring.
Two groups of cylinder pressure data were compared each other, one measured by pressure transducer mounted flush on the combustion chamber and the other obtained with the help of spark plug type adaptor. In particular, those data taken during engine motoring by spark plug type installation were analyzed by 1-D tube flow model and compared with real data.
Test results indicated that spark plug type P/T showed higher pressure indication than those form flush mounted P/T at low rpm and load, and it was reversed at high rpm and load condition. The 1-D modelling prediction displayed reasonably good agreement with those from engine motoring tests.
