Dashcams, among other smart vehicle technologies, have been gaining interest around the world. In this fast growing industry, it is important to recognize motives and privacy issues in vehicle related sensor data. Understanding and analyzing differences among dashcam video sharing culture is vital because dashcam usage is closely related to many factors that vary in different countries, such as traffic regulation, privacy law, and social economic status. This study examines differences in motives and concerns of dashcam video sharing across Korea, China, and Russia. The online survey results from these countries (Korea: n = 373, China: n = 317, Russia: n = 400) indicated two major motives for sharing dashcam data ― Factor 1: reciprocal altruism & social justice and Factor 2: monetary reward. Respondents from all three countries felt more strongly toward reciprocal altruism & social justice motive and less toward monetary reward motive. However, regarding privacy concerns, the surveys presented more discrepancy among these countries. This indicates that disparity in culture and traffic regulations influences opinions about privacy concerns, but does not make a significant influence in motives.
블랙박스 영상은 운전자들이 예기치 않은 사고를 당했을 때 경위 판단에 매우 중요한 단서로 사용되고 있다. 이에 따라 블랙박스는 필수 자동차 기기로 인식되고 있으며, 스마트 자동차 관련 기술에 대한 관심 또한 증가하고 있다. 블랙박스 사용은 교통 규제, 개인 정보 보호 법률, 사회 경제적 지위 등 각 나라 특성을 반영하는 많은 요인과 관련이 있으므로 보다 효율적인 차량 관련 데이터 활용을 위해서는 나라별 블랙박스 공유 문화를 이해하는 것이 매우 중요하다. 이에 본 논문은 한국, 중국, 러시아에서의 공유 동기 및 염려 요소를 분석하고 비교한다. 온라인 설문결과(한국: n = 373, 중국: n = 317, 러시아: n = 400)를 통해 두 가지 주요 공유동기를 도출해 내었다―요소1: 호혜적 이타심 및 사회정의, 요소2: 금전보상. 세 나라 응답자들 모두 호혜적 이타심 및 사회 정의 동기는 높았던 반면, 금전보상 동기는 낮았다. 그러나, 공유 과정에서 발생하는 염려에 관하여서는 국가 별 차이를 보였다. 이는 개인 정보 관련 염려에서는 문화와 교통 법규 등에 따른 의견의 차이를 나타내지만, 공유 동기에 관하여서는 큰 영향을 끼치지 않는다는 것을 보여준다.
