This thesis describes a design and implementation of wideband linear FM generator that provides the wideband transmitted signal and correlation receiver reference for SAR system. The signal is generated actively by sweeping a voltage-controlled oscillator with a feedback loop. The signal generated has a bandwidth of 970 MHz and a duration of 200 μsec. (or 300 μsec.) These parameters, a bandwidth and a duration, can easily be varied by operating the control voltage. The control voltage is a train of ramp waveform with a frequency of 480Hz 9or 300Hz). Achieved linearity is guaranteed by comparing with simulated results and has a quadratic FM error of several KHz.
