In this paper, the Multilayer Printed Circuit Board routing problem is implemented by employing the single row approach in which the complex routing problem is decomposed into several subproblems and solved systematically and sequentially. A method is proposed which reduces the number of via holes by permitting them to be used in the pin region. Between pins congestion is set to three. Single line routing problem is classified into five street capacities and then each case is solved. The number of layers is increase until 100% routing is achieved, and connection index is given whenever the number of layers is incremented.
The routing program is coded in C language and implemented on a VAX 11-750/UNIX computer.
