Selective reduced integration method was developed to eleminate parasitic shear in quadrilateral elements. This is a thesis that improved selective reduced integration method with the methods as follows.
In order to satisfy invariance-selective reduced integration method is not invariant, i.e. when a structure is analyzed in two different orientations in xy coordinate, two different answers are obtained-this paper used a method transforming to global coordinate system after each element stiffness matrix was formulated in a local Cartesian coordinate system which is not concerned with orientation in global coordinate system.
Selective reduced integration method is to do reduced integration in regard to shear strain part. In this paper, on the other hand, stiffness matrices were formulated with reduced integration of normal strain part which use bending energy compensation through transfer of locations of numerical integrating points in order to improve results with respect to nonrectangular elements.
