In the present work, a simplified model of an indeterminate system composed of four cantilevers coated with a viscoelastic material and a concentrated mass is derived in terms of dynamic properties of the viscoelastic material and the cantilever material and dimension of each component.
First, elastic modulus and loss factor of the viscoelastic material obtained from excitation experiments are converted into modal damping as functions of frequency at a fixed temperature, and then it is used to formulate the transfer function of the combined indeterminate system based on some assumptions.
The derived model for the system is verified by comparing with experimental results.
