The current source inverter-fed induction motor(CSI-IM drive) drive is widely used in industry. However, the design of the controller is known to be not a simple task. The control circuit includes two major control loops: current one and speed one. Among them, the speed control loop is more difficult to design due to the nonlinearities of the induction motor. Thus the state equation of the overall system is derived, and the transfer function Wr/Wsl is obtained by means of perturbation theory. By considering the transfer functions at various operating points, the overall system is characterized, which can be utilized usefully in designing speed controller in CSI-IM drive. In addition, in order to compensate CSI-IM drive against its slow response characteristics to load disturbances, an angle controller is added to the control circuit. Angle controller is dependent on the inverter time delay. In particular, SRCI(Simultaneous Recovery Commutation Inverter) is considered in this thesis.
