This thesis proposes the integrated summary data table(ISDT), which has a unified structure for the representation and the management of various summary data. The ISDT provides statisticians with statistical/summary information in rapid response time by direct accessing the precomputed summary data. The integrated summary database(ISDB) which stores and manages the ISDT is designed as a front-end to a conventional database management system. So, there is no need for additional storage structure and access mechanisms for the ISDT. To define, access and manipulate the ISDT, the query language ISDT-QL is provided. Finally, a prototype system implemented on INGRES is presented.
