This thesis describes an attempt to perform a conceptual analysis of Korean sentences represented in the propositional language. The propositional language, which is designed as a medium-level representation of natural sentences, consists of predicates, nouns, tenses, conjunctives, and variable references of a word or a sentences.
In order to analyze the propositional Korean sentences, the micro English Language Interpreter (micro ELI), an expectation-based conceptual analyzer of the production style, was modified and extended. The output of this analyzer is conceptual-level meanings represented as one of the 11 meaning category frames used in the Conceptual Dependency (CD) theory. Each meaning category frame, in turn, consists of several slots and values.
Based on this initial study, we may conclude that this expectation-based conceptual analysis is appropriate to use in the analysis of Korean sentences, if properly extended.
