The limitation of ASCI are caused by the spike voltage and the commutation time under no load, but those can be solved by using a new inverter scheme. In this scheme, the rebound energy, which is stored in the voltage clamping capacitor, is returned to the motor simultaneously with commutation. In the paper, the new inverter is analyized in detail and compared with those of ASCI through the computer simulation. In the end, the experimental results are given, which show the agreement with the simulation results.
