The stability and control analysis is very important field in manually controlled airplane design.
This study was performed to establish the analysis procedure for airplane longitudinal stability & control and apply this method to the XT-1 airplane designed for the basic trainer purpose based upon design specification.
The pertinent design specification, theory and its computer program was rearranged to be able to apply easily to similar type airplane.
The analysis result for XT-1 gives the C.G. travel restriction, optimal elevator hinge line location. Also, required stick force, elevator angle and tap angle were calculated in various flight conditions.
The flight characteristics and influence of parameter changes on the dynamic stability were included.
