It is required that a structure should be identified which cannot be excited by a vibrator because of its scale and some other reasons. In this situation, the data used for identification is usually obtained from the output measurements only.
This paper reviews the method of the analysis based upon the output measurements only. And this method is applicated to the analysis of a cantilever and a lathe.
In the testing of a lathe, first, it is excited by vibrator for examination of its reliability by comparison between the results of the analysis by this method and by using a frequency response function. Finally, the lathe is identified again using the data from measuring the accelerations during turning.
