A theoretical forming load by means of a new forming model on the transverse rolling process is predicted and compared with some experiments.
The theoretical forming model adopted slab method is simplified and divided into knifing zone and stretching zone.
The transverse rolling process pardmeters such as shoulder angle, reduction of area, stretching angle, influenced on separating force are analyzed and discussed.
In order to show the validity of the proposed theory, some experiments are carried out with mild steel billets at a hot condition for different reduction of areas.
The theoretical predictions in separating force are in well agreement with the experimental results.
A theoretical forming limit is presented by using necking theory and compared with the experimental results.
