In the injection molding process, the relationship between the mold temperature of injection molding machine and the residual stress distributions in the injection molded products is studied.
The mold temperature is controlled with induction heater. Injections are carried out at various mold temperature, while other conditions are kept constant. Residual stresses in the specimen are inspected using photo-elastic technique.
As mold temperature is increased, residual stresses are decreased, and varies slowly in the outer side, sharply in the inner side of specimen. As mold temperature is decreased, residual stresses are increased, and varies sharply in the outer side, slowly in the inner side of specimen.
