An experimental system for Multi-Stage Flash(MSF) Evaporation was designed and manufactured to study the heat, mass and momentum transport phenomena with flash evaporation. The system majorly consists of three-stage flash chamber, a brine heater, vacuum system, condenser/distillation units, pumps and a reservoir.
Preliminary experiments were performed to find out the flow pattern and the performance of the experimental system. Also the system was compared with those of Lior and Miyatake. It was concluded that the performance of the present experimental system is quite satisfactory.
