A program has been developed for dispay of stress contours for three-dimensional finite element models. The elements covered are 8-node or 20-node curved bricks and 4-node or 8-node plates.
A local smoothing technique based on least square method is used to convert the stress output at Gaussian points to nodal stress values. Using this method, several test problems are treated and it is shown that unwanted spurious stresses can be eliminated and reasonable graphical results obtained. The program has been combined into a previously developed program, enlarging the quality of generated contour and its capability for input methods.
