A new series resonant GTO inverter for high frequency induction heating is designed, analyzed and implemented.
The characteristics of the induction heating load are discussed.
The operating frequency of the inverter can be automatically adjusted to suit the changing characteristics during a heating cycle, and there is no need to adjust the capacitance.
The GTO triggering pulses occur at a zero crossing instant of the current waveform.
Therefore, the power factor is largely improved and the GTO switching loss for the high frequency inverter is very low.
All operating characteristics have been experimentally verified.
