This thesis presents design tools for database design for PERD. As the design tools, first, we propose an extended ER model for PERD(ERP). The ERP model is used as a conceptual model in PERD database design. The extension of ER model is to represent the semantic aspects of RM/T model which is a base of PERD. Second, the translation rules from ERP model into RM/T model are proposed. Third, a tool ERCI and documentation system is suggested. ERCI is for end-users specification of their processing requirements, documentation system is to use the specification through the ERCI.
ERCI, documentation system, and translator which is based on the proposed rules are implemented on TRIGEM-88 personal computer(MS-DOS) using BASIC language and dBASE II.
