In this thesis, the phonetic transcription system for Korean is designed and implemented, which transforms Korean text into Korean phonetic symbol.
For this purpose, pronunciation rule and allophone rule for Korean are classified into efficient transformation algorithm.
Additionally dictionary that handles exceptional pronunciation is splited into disjoint components according to the pronunciation rule and contains only a pointer to the position where a phoneme should be converted to the other, which results in reduced search time and memory space.
Finally, the phonetic transcription system is tested and analyzed with the conventional phonetic synthesizer.
