The groundwater quality model which can analyze the distributions of water levels and pollutant concentrations was studied and extended. A depth-averaged two dimensional simulation model for water quality prediction is studied, and the Galerkin's finite element technique with the linear interpolation function is used in this model, "KAISGWP".
The model consists of two submodels which are flow model and hydrodynamic dispersion of solute model that must be solved simultaneously with flow model. Flow model can be applied to phreatic or confined aquifer. For the usage of leaky aquifer, a modification was suggested. In hydrodynamic dispersion model, advection and molecular diffusion were considered. And the program was extended for the consideration of decay term. Also, the modification in the equation was suggested for the consideration of adsorption phenomena.
