The world we live in is different from the past and it is going through a lot of rapid changes. The boundaries of science and technology are both crumbling and fusing together due to the development of IT. A new product, Vocaloid, is becoming an example of emerging issues that are affecting the future of society and culture.
Vocaloid, which is a new kind of singing voice synthesizer software, has created new cultural content. It is not a performer, but a user who produces singing in secondary production. The social impact of Vocaloid as a “cyber singer” is a very important issue: How will it develop in the environment of realistic media technology?
If the user of Vocaloid can overcome constraints of time and space in a virtual environment, and satisfy not only visual and auditory but also digital senses through tangible media that provides presence and immersion, future society will be significantly affected.
Nobody knows if Vocaloid will be the starting point to begin a significant change in our culture toward the post-human, or if it will be the means for next-generation fusion of cultural contents as a new growth power. A strategic response to it as an emerging issue should be developed by both Government and Enterprise.
Therefore, this study created four future scenarios using the scenario planning technique to explore how the concept of family and social acceptability might change. Regarding the business opportunity and crisis factors from the position of Government and Enterprise, we propose that these scenarios should be used as research concerning the future social change created by products such as Vocaloid.
우리가 사는 세상은 과거와는 다른 매우 빠른 속도록 변해 가고 있다. IT의 발달로 과학가술의 각 영역은 경계가 허물어 지면서 융합되어 새로운 변화를 만들어 내고 있다. 보컬로이드는 그러한 변화 중에서 미래 사회에 영향력을 줄 이머징 이슈가 되어 가고 있다.
소프트 웨어로 시작한 보컬로이드는 사용자들이 수동적으로 콘텐츠를 받아들이기만 하는 '수용자(consumer)' 아니라 '사용자(user)'로서 - 2차 창작(Secondary Production)의 활동을 하게 하면서 새로운 문화 콘텐츠를 만들어 내고 있다. 현재 보컬로이드는 사이버 가수로서, 여러 매체의 광고에 출현 하면서 사회적 영향력을 주고 있다.
이러한 보컬로이드가 실감 미디어(Immersion media) 기술 환경 속에서 어떻게 발전될 것인가는 매우 중요한 이슈이다. 가상의 환경에서 공간과 시간의 제약을 극복하면서 실재감(Presence)과 몰입감(Immersion)을 제공할 수 있는 실감미디어를 통해 사용자들이 보컬로이드를 시각과 청각만이 아니라 디지털 오감으로 경험 한다면 미래 사회이 새로운 변화에 큭 영향력을 줄 것이다.
보컬로이드가 거대 담론인 포스트 휴먼(Post Human)을 지나면서 새로운 문명을 시작하게 하는 시발점이 될지, 신성장 동력으로서 차세대 융합 문화 콘텐츠로의 엔진이 될지는 알 수 없지만 정부와 기업은 이머징 이슈로서이 보컬로이드에 대한 전략적 대응이 필요한 시점이다.
따라서 본 연구는 시나리오 기법을 이용하여 "가족 개념의 변화"와 "사회적 수용성(social acceptability)"의 변화 동인을 도출 하여 4가지 미래 시나리오를 전개 하였다.
각각의 시나리오를 종합하여 정부와 기업 입장에서의 기회와 위기 요인의 전략적 시사점을 제안 하여 보컬로이드를 통한 미래 사회 변화에 대응 하고자 하는 연구로서 활용 가능할 것으로 사료된다.
