Simulation of valve motion would reduce a great deal of experimental work preceding the final decision of valve train design.
This paper was to build a model of valve train in order to simulate and to analyze valve motion.
This paper has presented 4 degree of freedom model which takes account for spring surge. It includes the effect of such nonlinearities as valve lash, jump, bounce and Coulomb friction force.
Comparison with experimental results has shown that the proposed model is reasonable for low speed range. The validity of the model has been confirmed by experimental investigation in valve seating.
But, there are many problems to be solved in obtaining input data for simulation.
