A study on the design of a high efficiency centrifugal compressor is presented.
Under the assumptions of isentropic and perfect gas, basic dimensions of entrance and exit are determined from given conditions such as mass flow rate, impeller RPM, entrance total temperature and pressure, and hub diameter.
By using Lame Ovals formula several sets of meridional and tangential hub-shroud curves are analytically produced, and then optimal flow passage is determined through 2-D parabolic implicit scheme.
This method is considered more accurate, rapid and economic when it is compared with conventional 2-D streamline curvature method.
