This thesis aims to find the differences of the behavioral aspects of information management between R \& D laboratories of the large companies and technology development teams (TDT) of the small and medium-sized companies.
Based on literature review, six hypotheses are generated. To test these hypotheses, the sample firms are selected by purposive sampling. The data are obtained through interviews and questionnares from 20 R & D laboratories and 15 TDT's.
In the analysis, Chi-square test and multiple discriminant analysis are used. The results are as follows:
(1) R & D laboratories and TDT's have the differences in the information acquisition modes according to contents of information and stages of project, especially in the information acquisition channel in the case of product development projects and idea generation stage.
(2) Information Management System of R & D laboratories and TDT's have the differences in the degree of structuredness and utilization.
Further research could be undertaken focused on communication patterns at organization level, information management behavior at project level, and technological gatekeeper at the individual level. These studies will be very useful to build the model which describes the total information management behavior in organization.
