A small-scale microcomputer network is designed and implemented for resource sharing. It is a centrally controlled multidrop type network based on the CP/M, MP/M and CP/NET software package.
In this thesis, after discussion on the designed network structure, the line interface and network controller are designed and implemented with the consideration of many network properties. The line interface is designed in accordance with CCITT and EIA recommendation. Between the master and the network, the network controller is designed to support many functions. Especially, a shared memory is adopted for speedy data exchange. Some experimental results for the implemented hardware are measured and discussed in detail.
