In ultrasonic computerized tomography (UCT), missing projection data are generated due to opaque obstructions such as bone or gas in the body. The generally used convolution-backprojection reconstruction algorithm requires a complete set of projection data for generating artifact-free CT images. For this reason, a new algorithm with missing projection data is required. In this thesis, an advanced algorithm for image reconstruction with missing projection data is proposed.
In this algorithm, after ART from known projection data is initially performed, convolution back projection reconstruction and reprojection are iteratively performed.
In addition, a comparative study for image reconstruction with incomplete data is made including the well-known iterative reconstruction-reprojection (IRR) algorithm.
Furthermore, attenuation CT and velocity CT images using a complete projection data are tested.
